A cross-organizational strategic committee aimed at integrating core Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as AI and robotics into gas safety management has officially launched.

Korea Gas Safety Corporation (President Park Kyung-kook) announced on the 20th that it held the inauguration ceremony for the “Future Technology Strategy Committee” at its headquarters conference hall in Chungbuk Innovation City, officially beginning committee operations.

The committee was established to proactively respond to rapidly evolving technological environments and secure global technological competitiveness in the gas safety sector.

To strengthen objectivity and expertise, the committee was organized through a hybrid structure of internal and external experts. External members include Professor Kim Mi-hye, Dean of the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Chungbuk National University; Jaehyun Lee, CEO of LOAS; and Research Fellow Son Nyeong-seon of the Korea Information Society Development Institute, alongside internal working-level personnel from the corporation.

The organization is operated through three specialized divisions according to expertise areas: △ AI & Data △ Platform & Infrastructure △ Environment & Industry.

Professor Kim Mi-hye of Chungbuk National University was appointed chairperson of the committee. Through December, each division will analyze the latest technological trends and establish phased implementation roadmaps applicable to actual gas safety inspections and R&D projects.

Park Kyung-kook, President of Korea Gas Safety Corporation, stated, “The utilization of advanced technologies such as AI and big data is a key factor that will determine the future transformation of gas safety management methods.” He added, “We will continue expanding the foundation for applying new technologies so that our technologies directly contribute to safety, while strengthening our safety management system as the nation’s most trusted gas safety institution.”

Following the launch of this committee, Korea Gas Safety Corporation is expected to accelerate its transition beyond traditional manpower-centered inspection systems toward advanced technology-based intelligent safety management systems.
