Conducted as part of the K-FAST Program program.

LOAS, an AI acoustic-based industrial facility diagnostics company led by Jaehyun Lee, announced that its Korea–Germany joint R&D project being conducted with Fraunhofer IDMT (Institute for Digital Media Technology), under the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Germany’s largest applied science research organization, has been officially selected for the second stage (Main Research Phase) of the international collaborative R&D program operated by TIPA (Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs).
The official title of the project entering Phase 2 is “Development of Multi-domain Feature Fusion Technology for Anomaly Detection Under Industrial Environmental Noise Conditions.” The project aims to develop next-generation core AI acoustic diagnostic technology capable of precisely detecting and classifying abnormal equipment sounds even within high-noise and mixed-noise industrial environments.
Following its selection for TIPA Phase 2, the joint research between LOAS and Fraunhofer IDMT will continue for the next two and a half years, further strengthening not only the technical maturity of the technology but also the long-term technological partnership between the two organizations.
This achievement is regarded as the result of close collaboration and joint technical planning between the two institutions since May 2025. It demonstrates strong synergy between LOAS, which possesses extensive industrial field validation data and commercialization experience, and Fraunhofer IDMT, recognized globally for its world-class expertise in acoustic signal processing and AI research.
Fraunhofer IDMT commented, “LOAS is a partner with a very clear technological vision and strong execution capabilities in the field of industrial acoustic diagnostics,” adding, “It is a collaborative relationship in which both research direction and business vision are highly aligned.”
This joint research project is being carried out as part of the K-FAST Program (Korea–Fraunhofer Collaboration Hub for Science and Technology), a platform designed to systematically support scientific and technological collaboration between Korea and Germany.
Jaehyun Lee, CEO of LOAS, stated, “The selection for TIPA Phase 2 signifies that LOAS’s AI acoustic diagnostic technology has been internationally recognized for both its technological competitiveness and research value.” He added, “Through our collaboration with Fraunhofer IDMT, we will continue advancing global-level unmanned facility diagnostic technology capable of practically solving industrial site challenges.”
Meanwhile, discussions regarding this collaborative project were formally initiated on November 10, 2025, at the headquarters of Fraunhofer IDMT in Germany, where Seokjin Hong, Director of the LOAS Research Institute, and Principal Researcher Park Jae-seung met with Professor Joachim Bös to discuss future research directions and expanded collaboration strategies.
Based on the outcomes of this joint research, LOAS plans to further expand its technologies through its intelligent acoustic inspection system SMART and the robot- and drone-based unmanned facility diagnostic monitoring platform ARQOS, while accelerating global commercialization targeting the European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets.
