Disaster prevention, defective product detection… AI solves challenges on the manufacturing floor

Startups leveraging AI (artificial intelligence) technology to solve complex challenges in manufacturing environments are drawing increasing attention.

LOAS developed “SMART,” a solution that uses AI-powered sound detection to identify accident sites and abnormalities in industrial environments. Whenever an accident occurs, some form of sound is inevitably generated. However, detecting subtle noises such as gas leaks within extremely noisy manufacturing sites is highly difficult. Some abnormal sounds even exist outside the range of human hearing.

LOAS developed a solution capable of collecting even microscopic noise signals to identify equipment abnormalities and determine the root causes of issues. By training AI models on various industrial environmental noises, the company significantly improved the accuracy of abnormal sound detection. In addition to fixed installation systems, LOAS also offers drone-based and robot-based versions that autonomously move throughout facilities to detect sounds and diagnose abnormalities.

Jaehyun Lee (38), who majored in physics at university and later worked as an engineer, founded the company after recognizing business demand for acoustic diagnostics. He stated, “We want to grow into a global service company,” adding, “Our primary target markets are China, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.”
